Alex Gee serves as the Head of Technical Accounting and Reporting. Since joining in March 2023, he has been instrumental in scaling the finance function, growing the team fivefold to meet the demands of the company’s expansion. Alex oversees the preparation of financial statements and the implementation of comprehensive internal controls. He provides strategic oversight on all major financial activities—including revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity arrangements, financing structures, and asset and liability recognition—to ensure compliance with US GAAP. By partnering with the controllership and cross-functional teams, Alex develops scalable accounting solutions and integrates financial insights into strategic decisions.

Before joining OpenAI, Alex spent more than a decade at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in diverse roles that honed his expertise. In the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services group, he advised clients on capital-market activities and resolved complex accounting challenges. At PwC's National Office, Alex specialized in investment company accounting, addressed intricate U.S. GAAP and IFRS matters, acted as an SEC liaison, authored thought leadership publications, and led industry webcasts. He also played a key role in the Digital Solutions group, spearheading digital transformation initiatives and implementing automation to enhance efficiency across the financial services sector.

Alex is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
