Steven Kenney

Steve is an audit partner in the KPMG Department of Professional Practice. Steve rejoined KPMG in 2025 after completing a professional accounting fellowship at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA). During his fellowship, Steve led and participated in consultations with registrants, other commission divisions and offices, and standard setters addressing complex accounting and financial reporting issues spanning diverse topics such as debt and equity, financial assets, derivatives, consolidation, long lived assets, financial statement presentation, insurance and crypto assets. In addition, he served as the liaison between OCA and the SEC’s Division of Investment Management on accounting related matters.
Prior to his fellowship, Steve spent time serving in both the KPMG Department of Professional Practice and Boston audit practice working primarily with financial services companies.
Steve earned an MBA and BS in Accounting from Providence College and is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.
