KPMG Mobilizes Nationwide Day of Volunteering with AI, Literacy and Connection
Firm celebrates fifth annual day of volunteerism by scaling impact and deepening connection
NEW YORK, May 12, 2026 – Partners and employees of KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will volunteer in communities across the country as the firm celebrates its fifth annual Community Impact Day.
“People want to be together, and they want to engage in ways that feel accessible and purposeful,” said Maureen Davenport, Principal in charge, Corporate Affairs, KPMG U.S. “National volunteerism has rebounded since the pandemic, but it has evolved, demanding new, creative ways to tap into people’s passions and build lasting connection for greater impact.”
“Every year, we are inspired by the sea of KPMG blue volunteering and by the impact of our nonprofit partners, which helps our firm continually recommit to serving our communities,” she added.
Advancing the AI Impact Initiative with more purpose and collaboration
Through the KPMG AI Impact Initiative, KPMG is working directly with nonprofits to apply AI responsibly across their operations and programs. Efforts connected to Community Impact Day include:
- Kicking off a series of 7 learning sessions with 40+ nonprofits in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Denver, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Los Angeles to help nonprofits embrace AI and scale their impact as part of a multi-year effort to support nonprofits as they embed AI into their operations.
- Convening a group of AI-forward nonprofits with Salesforce for a strategic discussion on how to further advance their AI journeys.
- Hosting an AI bootcamp for Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Mark Cuban Foundation. This program is a free, hands-on experience introducing high school students to what future work opportunities could look like and teaches fundamentals like prompting.
- Developing and deploying an internal AI-prompted app to help KPMG employees discover causes, find volunteer opportunities, and connect with colleagues based on shared interests.
Doubling down on literacy in the AI era
Coming out of the pandemic, the most recent National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reading scores fell to lows not seen since 1992. KPMG is doubling down and evolving its approach to support literacy this year.
- For nearly 20 years, KPMG and First Book have worked together through KPMG Friends & Family Literacy (KFFL) to deliver nearly 8 million books and resources to students and educators.
- This year, employees have the opportunity to participate in 93 KFFL events across 63 offices.
Supporting connection during mental health awareness month
KPMG Friends@Work research highlights the value of friendships in the workplace for people’s engagement, mental health, and career development. Community Impact Day not only helps the firm build connections with nonprofits but also with one another.
Moreover, new data in collaboration with Civic Science, an advertising and analytics platform, finds that employees with close friends are four times more likely to volunteer weekly (32%) than other groups (8%).
- Across the U.S., 77 KPMG offices are participating in 700 volunteer activities.
- These efforts are carried out in collaboration with over 400 nonprofit organizations to support local communities.
- Volunteer efforts also extend to environmental cleanups, classroom support, and addressing food insecurity.
