Accelerating the value of AI in government organizations
AI can deliver real value today—if you’re willing to start small
As government agencies are increasingly asked to do more with less, it’s not surprising that many are looking at AI as a potentially game-changing solution. Top-down pressure to implement AI organization-wide and a belief that achieving value from AI is only possible through complicated, expensive initiatives may lead some to ignore opportunities to leverage the technology in smaller, more targeted ways.
There are many areas where quick wins are possible without complex, custom development. For example, a thorough look at functional roles that can be augmented or supported by AI can reveal many opportunities to unlock capacity, often using AI tools that are already available within the organization. In addition to delivering value immediately, these initiatives can also help build momentum for AI adoption across the organization.
In this article, we outline four ways that government agencies can start small with AI and take a value-driven approach to its implementation. We also describe three key objectives they should strive for in setting up a foundation for AI success in all their initiatives, regardless of size.
