Webcast overview

About the webcast

In this Future of SOX webcast, we will explore the use of automation in the first line, specifically the role of automated controls in the finance and accounting function utilizing an intelligent close.

During previous ICFR webcasts, we have discussed the increased use of technology and automation by external auditors, highlighting the implications on the design and execution of first and second line controls, as well as management's control testing procedures.

In this upcoming webcast, John Whalen, Managing Director in the KPMG Finance Transformation practice, will describe the latest trends to drive an intelligent close using automation and technology, including sharing some practical, real-world examples to drive more effective and efficient close processes.

Sue King, US SOX Offering Leader for KPMG, will moderate the discussion, providing perspective on the implications of the first line changes on internal controls.

Specific topics of discussion will include:

  1. The need for enhanced automation in the finance and accounting functions
  2. The way that automation and technology is being included in the Intelligent Close process
  3. Exploring how leading companies are using technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness into their internal controls

Continuing education

There will be 1.5 continuing professional education (CPE) credit available to participants who participate in the live webcast and meet the eligibility requirements. The webcast will last approximately 1.5 hours.
