New features allow inclusion of risk-approved internal data for critical search and generative AI applications across the enterprise
New York, NY June 25,2024 – KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, is collaborating with Microsoft to create new capabilities for its a proprietary generative AI tool built on the back of Microsoft’s OpenAI service. Utilizing Microsoft’s Azure AI Search, KPMG has worked with Microsoft to now streamline locating internal proprietary content that exists in large quantities of stored information – a previously time-intensive process.
One of the key challenges in the professional services industry is efficiently locating relevant information from private, internal channels saved on various platforms. To address this challenge, KPMG has developed “Advisory Content Chat,” built with Microsoft Azure AI search. The tool can access internal data without moving or replicating existing data. It draws from the source locations of approved materials, with appropriate safeguards and controls, and can reference the source data it is pulled from.
“Building “Advisory Content Chat” with Azure AI Search allows us to deliver a scalable, high quality knowledge management system for our professionals, and offers a secure, efficient RAG solution for our clients. As RAG becomes more essential for generative AI applications, we envision Advisory Content Chat as a core element of future gen AI applications and solutions to serve our people and bring to our clients as well,” said Matt Bishop, Chief Technology Officer, Advisory and Advisory AI Transformation Leader for KPMG.
KPMG is the first organization to develop a tool using Microsoft Azure AI Search that can access documents at their source and incorporate the technology into its GPT capabilities. The firm recognizes the importance of ensuring its teams are skilled in utilizing this tool effectively to deliver the best possible outcomes for clients. Not only does the tool assist KPMG professionals in their day-to-day work, but it also provides an approach to building retrieval augmented generation (RAG) tools that KPMG and Microsoft will deliver for their shared clients who are seeking similar capabilities.
“KPMG is using Azure OpenAI and AI Search to make it easier for their employees to locate and use internal data to better help their clients. Together with KPMG, we are transforming data access for 40,000 employees and setting a new standard for innovation in the industry.” said Ali Dalloul, Vice President, Azure AI at Microsoft.
These upgrades coincide with the deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot to all KPMG partners and professionals and advancements in AI technologies that support our firm-wide transformation initiative, KPMG aIQ, that aims to embed GenAI into everything KPMG does.
