KPMG Announces Client Technology & Innovation Group to Build AI-Native Businesses
Brings together innovation, AI and ecosystems under one umbrella to accelerate new products from idea to market
NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2026 — KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, today announced the formation of its new Client Technology & Innovation (CT&I) group to develop AI-native businesses and quickly scale new product offerings.

CT&I pairs the agility required to innovate with the talent, technology platforms, data and client relationships that differentiate KPMG.”
Todd Lohr will lead CT&I, effective October 1, and the new organization will focus on "innovation at the edge" to experiment and incubate ideas faster and scale businesses. CT&I brings together the firm’s technology ecosystem, including alliance partners, ventures investments in start-ups and relationships with venture capital firms. As a result, the firm expects additional joint ventures across the ecosystem to accelerate the new businesses and co-development of new products with clients.

Each edge company will have a mandate to build and scale with a variety of exit strategies, including folding them back into the core."
CT&I will also serve as an important leadership development experience at KPMG with rising stars identified to participate in rotations as founders and leaders within the edge companies. It will provide an opportunity to build both leadership skills and AI and digital literacy that people can then bring into firm leadership roles, positioning them to lead as the professional services market evolves.
With CT&I, KPMG will expand its efforts to co-develop products with technology partners, including start-ups, the frontier AI labs and major alliances including Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Databricks. CT&I will work closely with its technology partners and the core businesses to build repeatable products on its industry-leading client delivery platforms to create value for clients across industries and functions.

CT&I will also continue to drive KPMG’s firmwide AI transformation, which has successfully driven large-scale AI adoption, employee upskilling, and AI guardrails and governance since its inception in 2023. This evolution comes as Steve Chase, Vice Chair and Global Head of AI & Digital Innovation, retires on September 30.
