David Fine Appointed to KPMG LLP National Managing Principal for Legal & Regulatory

September 2, 2025 (New York) -- David M. Fine has been appointed as the National Managing Principal for Legal & Regulatory at KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm. He will work closely with Matt Miner, the firm’s General Counsel and Vice Chair of Legal, Risk Management & Compliance (LRMC), to oversee legal and regulatory activities and engage with the firm’s Management Committee.
Fine joined KPMG nearly six years ago as Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Regulatory Investigations. Most recently, he acted as Special Counsel to the General Counsel and Vice Chair. Prior to that, he served as Interim General Counsel and Principal-in-Charge of Legal, Regulatory & Compliance.
Before joining KPMG, Fine was a partner at the law firms King & Spalding LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he worked on complex litigation and regulatory matters and represented large accounting firms in state and federal courts and before a variety of regulatory agencies. Prior to that he was an associate at Arnold & Porter LLP and a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Richard L. Nygaard, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He graduated from Cornell Law School, magna cum laude, in 1999.
“This role is designed to build connections across KPMG to identify opportunities in which our legal and regulatory team can bring our skills and knowledge to help the firm grow, while thoughtfully managing risk,” said Miner. “David’s experience, dedication and integrity make him the perfect person to do that.”
Fine stated: “I care deeply about the firm and the important role it plays in the capital markets. I look forward to continuing to drive a culture of excellence, integrity and innovation at KPMG LLP.”
