Consumers get thrifty for summer spend
KPMG surveyed over 1,000 consumers across the U.S. to learn about their expected spending habits for the summer, as well as shifts in buying behaviors across categories and channels. In addition, we asked respondents about the impact of inflation, their travel plans for the summer, and health and wellness.
Consumers have pulled back their discretionary spend by 3%, while prioritizing their essential spend by the same margin.
While summer travel is still on the rise, men, millennials, and high income earners are leading the charge.
