The CIO’s path to driving value with AI
How Chief Information Officers can dramatically increase their impact on the business by charting the course for AI.

In July 2024, KPMG conducted a survey of 225 senior business leaders at companies with $1 billion or more in revenue. That 2024 KPMG Generative AI Survey report reveals that executives say that generative AI is already having a significant impact on how they are charting the course for their organizations.
In the July survey, business leaders said:
- IT is the top area where they have the highest integration of genAI, with 66 percent saying they have fully integrated or are in the process of executing a holistic genAI program
- 83 percent say they believe genAI investments will increase over the next three years
- Executives say revenue growth is the top goal for genAI investment, with the remainder saying productivity is a top goal.
GenAI is not a fad. It’s a game-changer, and business executives expect to see the payoff in the next three years as they scale its use in their organization to gain a competitive edge and grow their business.
