Australia: Consultation on repeal of additional tariffs

The consultation closes on January 11, 2027.

May 13, 2026

Treasury opened a consultation on its proposal to repeal a third tranche of tariffs comprising of 86 specific tariffs.

According to Treasury, the tariffs proposed for repeal were selected for removal based on factors such as the low value of goods being imported, the low value of duty being collected, and other policy considerations.

The repeal of this third tranche of tariffs will be implemented through a customs tariff proposal to set the rate of customs duties to “free” for the identified tariff lines from July 1, 2027.

The consultation closes on January 11, 2027.
