Saint Kitts and Nevis: Reduced gasoline excise tax and extended exemptions for alternative energy equipment

The government of Saint Kitts and Nevis on April 14, 2026, announced tax measures to ease cost-of-living pressures and promote energy transition.

The announced measures include:

  • Reducing the excise tax on gasoline by 50%, to apply from April 20, 2026
  • Lowering the customs service charge on gasoline until July 31, 2026, to mitigate fuel-related cost increases
  • Extending full exemptions from VAT, customs service charges, and import duties for alternative energy equipment, including solar systems, until December 31, 2026
