Dominica: Extended VAT exemption and import duty waivers on essential goods

Effective until July 31, 2026

may 26, 2026

The government of Dominica on April 10, 2026, approved an extension of the VAT exemption and import duty waivers on essential goods, effective until July 31, 2026.

The measure continues the exemption of VAT and import duties on a range of essential goods as part of a targeted response to rising global economic pressures and cost-of-living increases. The extension aims to ease the burden on households by mitigating higher food and input costs resulting from global supply disruptions, with the government encouraging suppliers to pass on the tax relief to consumers.
