EU: Anti-dumping duties on imports from Bahrain, Egypt, Thailand, and Brazil
Measures address unfairly traded imports of glass fibre and softwood plywood
The European Commission (EC) today announced the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of continuous filament glass fibre (GFR) from Bahrain, Egypt, and Thailand, and on imports of softwood plywood from Brazil.
- Glass fibre: According to an EC release, an investigation by the EC found that imports of GFR from Bahrain, Egypt, and Thailand were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU’s glass fibre industry. The definitive anti-dumping duties were set at 11.8% for Bahrain, 11% for Egypt, and range from 15.3% to 25.4% for Thailand.
- Softwood plywood: A separate EC release explains that the EC’s investigation into softwood plywood from Brazil concluded that these products were being imported at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU’s softwood plywood industry. The definitive anti-dumping duties are set at 5.4% for all Brazilian exporters, with an exception for one company for which no dumping was found.
