The Taxation (Annual Rates for 2025-26, Compliance Simplification, and Remedial Measures) Bill, which was introduced by the government in August 2025 and includes measures aimed at simplifying the tax rules (with a focus on so-called “digital nomads” and new migrants), has been reported back from the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee.

The bill remains largely unchanged, with the committee’s recommendations focused on technical refinements to improve workability and address taxpayer concerns.
