Canada: Tax measures in 2026 budget (Alberta)

Alberta’s 2026 budget proposes a new caregiver credit, a tax on rental vehicles, and an increased tourism levy rate.

Alberta’s Finance Minister on February 26, 2026, delivered the province’s 2026 budget. While there are no new changes to the corporate or individual (personal) income tax rates, the budget proposes:

  • Alberta caregiver credit
  • Tax on rental vehicles
  • Increased tourism levy rate to 6% (from 4%)
