The British Columbia government announced on February 17, 2026, in its provincial budget, that the application of the provincial sales tax (PST) will be extended to certain professional services—such as accounting, architectural, engineering and geoscience, security, and a wide range of non-residential real estate services—effective October 1, 2026.

British Columbia has released related PST proposals with various measures to be specified at a later date and several definitions referencing other legislation. The province is expected to release further details in related regulations and guidance.
