Australia: Enhancement of stamp duty concession in 2026-2027 budget (Western Australia)

The government of Western Australia announced the following enhancements to its stamp duty concession as part of the 2026-2027 state budget:

  • Inclusion of all new survey-strata dwellings
  • Increase in thresholds
    • For dwellings purchased off the plan, the threshold for exemption is increased from $750,000* to $800,000 and tapers to 50% above $900,000.
    • For dwellings bought while under construction, the threshold for a 75% concession is increased from $750,000 to $800,000 and tapers to 37.5% above $900,000.
  • Extension of eligibility period until June 30, 2028

The enhancements apply to transactions from March 12, 2026.
