President Trump today signed an executive order terminating the collection of certain additional ad valorem duties imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

The order references previous actions taken under IEEPA, including certain executive orders that imposed additional ad valorem duties on imports from specific foreign trading partners in response to national security, foreign policy, or economic threats. These duties are no longer in effect and agencies are directed to end their collection as soon as practicable.

Other actions taken under these executive orders that do not involve additional ad valorem duties remain unaffected, and the underlying national emergencies declared or described in the referenced executive orders continue in effect.

Earlier today, the U.S. Supreme Court held that tariffs imposed by the president under the IEEPA were not legally authorized. Read TradeNewsFlash
