India: Draft Income-tax Rules, 2026 and forms released for consultation

Introduces new international tax reporting requirements

The Central Board of Direct Taxes released for consultation the draft Income-tax Rules, 2026, along with the proposed forms, in relation to the Income-tax Act, 2025, which is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2026.

Changes have been introduced in the reporting requirements relating to international tax, including:

  • Claiming tax treaty benefits
  • Reporting foreign remittances
  • Claiming a foreign tax credit
