The Minister of Finance and the Public Service in late October 2025 approved a 30-day relief from import duty and general consumption tax on goods imported by the public to support recovery efforts after Hurricane Melissa.

The relief applies from October 29 to November 28, 2025, with the Jamaica Customs Agency tasked to implement procedures for efficient processing.

In addition, tax amendments to allow employers to provide direct tax-free financial support to their employees affected by Hurricane Melissa were announced in December 2025. Read a January 2026 report prepared by the KPMG member firm in Jamaica
