January 13, 2026

The House of Assembly in late October 2025 passed the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (Amendment No. 2) Bill 2025, aligning domestic law with the OECD common reporting standard (CRS) and Global Forum recommendations.

The bill:

  • Expands the powers delegated to financial regulators as supervisory authorities for CRS purposes
  • Clarifies the scope of excluded accounts under the CRS, thereby reducing interpretive ambiguity
  • States that decisions made by the Competent Authority may be appealed to the Supreme Court
