Guyana: Tax measures in 2026 budget

Proposals related to corporate taxes, VAT, and net property taxes

The 2026 budget features several tax-related proposals, including:

  • Removal of corporate taxes for businesses operating in the agriculture and agro-processing sectors
  • Elimination of value added tax (VAT) on locally made furniture and jewelry
  • Removal of import duties and VAT on security equipment, including security cameras and alarm systems
  • Removal of the net property tax on individuals
  • Increase of the income tax threshold from GY$130,000 to GY$140,000 per month
  • Introduction of a flat tax on double-cab pickups and the removal of VAT on new motor vehicles below 1500cc, as well as on new electric and hybrid vehicles below 2000cc
