Recent tax-related bills being considered by Parliament
The following tax-related bills are being considered by Parliament:
- Treasury Laws Amendment (Strengthening Financial Systems and Other Measures) Bill 2025, which proposes to bolster the substantial holding and tracing notice regimes that govern the disclosure of beneficially owned interests in listed entities, passed the House of Representatives.
- Treasury Laws Amendment (Payday Superannuation) Bill 2025 and Superannuation Guarantee Charge Amendment Bill 2025, which propose to reform the superannuation guarantee framework and introduce “Payday Superannuation” effective July 1, 2026, were introduced to Parliament.
- Regulatory Reform Omnibus Bill 2025, which would amend or repeal various outdated administrative provisions, was introduced to Parliament.
- Excise Tariff Amendment (Draught Beer) Bill 2025 and Customs Tariff Amendment (Draught Beer) Bill 2025, which would pause the indexation of the draught beer excise tax and customs duty for two years from August 1, 2025, were introduced to Parliament.
