U.S. BIS opens inclusions window for Section 232 steel and aluminum tariff inclusions process
Current inclusions window is open through September 29, 2025
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce today released a notice announcing opening of the inclusions window for the Section 232 steel and aluminum tariff inclusions process, which allows for submissions to include additional derivative steel and aluminum articles within the scope of duties authorized by the president under the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
The current inclusions window is open from September 15, 2025, through September 29, 2025. Submissions must be emailed to the Defense Industrial Base Programs inbox.
Background
President Biden in February 2025 issued Proclamations 10895 and 10896, which adjusted import duties on aluminum and steel articles. Following these proclamations, BIS established a process for including additional derivative articles under these duties. An interim final rule published in May 2025 outlined the procedure for submissions, which occur during designated two-week windows in May, September, and January.
