United States publishes 2025 updates to Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act enforcement strategy
New high-priority sectors designated for enforcement
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) today issued a release announcing that the Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force has published an updated Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) enforcement strategy (August 19, 2025).
According to a USTR transmittal message, the updated UFLPA strategy highlights:
- 78 new entities added to the UFLPA Entity List in the past year, bringing the total to 144 Chinese entities whose goods are presumptively prohibited from entering the United States pursuant to the UFLPA.
- New high-priority sectors designated for enforcement under the UFLPA—caustic soda, copper, lithium, red dates, and steel
Background
The UFLPA enforcement strategy was launched in June 2022.
The Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force, chaired by Department of Homeland Security, leads efforts to monitor the enforcement of the prohibition on importing goods made wholly or in part with forced labor into the United States.
