Australia: Productivity Commission proposes lowering corporate tax rate, introducing net cashflow tax
The Commission has also opened a consultation on the reforms, which closes on September 15, 2025.
The Productivity Commission published its first interim report into its inquiry into the first pillar of the federal government's productivity agenda, which includes the following proposals in the area of corporate tax reform:
- Pivoting the corporate tax system to a more efficient mix of taxes
- Lowering the company tax rate to 20% for certain companies
- Introducing a net cashflow tax of 5%
The Commission has also opened a consultation on the reforms outlined in this report that will inform its final report due to be released later this year.
The consultation closes on September 15, 2025.
