U.S. BIS requests comments on Section 232 investigations into imports of unmanned aircraft systems and polysilicon

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce released two separate notices requesting public comments on investigations under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 that aim to assess the national security implications of imports of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and their parts and components, as well as imports of polysilicon and its derivatives.

Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, data, analyses, or other pertinent information to BIS, particularly concerning various factors affecting national security, including domestic demand and production capabilities, foreign supply chain roles, and the impact of foreign government subsidies and trade practices.

Comments for both investigations must be received no later than 21 days after publication in the Federal Register, which is scheduled to be on July 16, 2025.
