The IRS has announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in parts of Texas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding that began on July 2, 2025.

Following a disaster declaration by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, taxpayers in Kerr County now have until February 2, 2026, to file various federal tax returns and make payments.

According to the IRS release (July 9, 2025), the extended filing deadline applies to those with valid extensions for their 2024 returns, quarterly estimated income tax payments, quarterly payroll and excise tax returns, and calendar-year partnerships, S corporations, corporations, and tax-exempt organizations with extensions expiring in 2025.

However, these filing extensions do not extend the time to pay taxes. Taxpayers receiving late filing or payment penalty notices can contact the IRS to request penalty abatement.
