The U.S. Senate yesterday confirmed (by a vote of 53-45) Kenneth Kies to be Treasury Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy).

The Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) is the senior advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for analyzing, developing, and implementing federal tax policies and programs. 

President Trump nominated Kies, a former Chief of Staff for the Joint Committee of Taxation (JCT) and former Republican Chief Tax Counsel for the House Committee on Ways and Means, on January 22, 2025.
