IRS announces tax relief for taxpayers affected by storms in Missouri
Taxpayers in parts of Missouri have until November 3, 2025, to file various federal tax returns and make payments.
The IRS today announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in parts of Missouri affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that began on May 16, 2025. Taxpayers in the affected areas now have until November 3, 2025, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period.
According to the IRS release—MO-2025-01 (June 25, 2025), following a disaster declaration by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the IRS is extending deadlines for those in Scott and St. Louis counties.
The November 3, 2025 deadline also applies to 2024 contributions to IRAs and health savings accounts for eligible taxpayers; estimated tax payments normally due on June 16, and September 15, 2025; and quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on July 31 and October 31, 2025. Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after May 16, 2025, and before June 2, 2025, will also be abated as long as the tax deposits were made by June 2, 2025.
