Canada: Digital services tax to be repealed

In anticipation of broader trade negotiations with the United States

A news release issued by the Canadian Department of Finance on June 29, 2025, stated that the Minister of Finance and National Revenue announced that Canada would repeal its digital services tax (DST) in anticipation of broader trade negotiations with the United States, and with a view towards reaching a comprehensive trade agreement by July 21, 2025.  

Collection of the DST will be halted as of today, June 30, 2025.
