Australia: Tax relief in 2025 budget (South Australia)
Tax relief related to drought, housing and health, and cost of living and transport
The South Australian budget 2025-2026 was delivered on June 5, 2025. No new taxes were introduced but relieving measures for existing taxes were announced.
- Drought relief: Eligible primary producers would receive a 12-month rebate of the Emergency Services Levy and motor vehicle registration fees for up to three commercial vehicles.
- Housing and health: Stamp duty exemptions and grants for first homeowners buying a new home or land on which to build a new home would continue to be provided. The budget would also earmark a further $1.9 billion over a period of five years to the health system to meet growing demand for services, improve facilities, and roll out new models of care.
- Cost of living and transport: The budget would extend the $200 reduction of the government school materials and services charge for an additional four years and introduce a 28-day public transport pass for school students for $10, down from $28.60.
