Senate confirms Long to be IRS Commissioner

The U.S. Senate today confirmed (by a vote of 53-44) Billy Long to be the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. Long will serve through the end of former IRS commissioner Danny Werfel’s term in November 2027.

President Trump nominated Long, who previously served as the U.S. representative for Missouri's 7th congressional district from 2011 to 2023, on January 20, 2025.
