The IRS today announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in parts of Missouri and Oklahoma affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and wildfires that began on March 14, 2025. Taxpayers in these areas now have until November 3, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

Following disaster declarations issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), residents and businesses in specified counties in Missouri and Oklahoma qualify for tax relief.

  • Missouri: Affected counties include Bollinger, Butler, Callaway, Camden, Carter, Dunklin, Franklin, Howell, Iron, Jefferson, Madison, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Perry, Phelps, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Louis, Stoddard, Wayne, Webster, and Wright. Read the IRS release—MO-2025-02
  • Oklahoma: Relief applies to Cleveland, Creek, Lincoln, Oklahoma, Pawnee, and Payne counties. Read the IRS release—OK-2025-02

The IRS is postponing certain tax-filing and payment deadlines for those in the disaster areas. Deadlines falling on or after March 14, 2025, and before November 3, 2025, are extended to November 3, 2025. Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due between March 14, 2025, and March 31, 2025, will be abated if deposits are made by March 31, 2025.
