The Victorian government announced that it plans to extend its current stamp duty concession for eligible “off-the-plan” apartments, units, and townhouses for another 12 months.

The concession was originally expanded in October 2024 to anyone buying an eligible off-the-plan apartment, unit, or townhouse, as well as removing any property price caps. Read TaxNewsFlash

The concession allows a 100% deduction of outstanding construction and refurbishment costs when determining how much stamp duty is owed.

The measure will be included in the upcoming Victorian Budget 2025-2026, which is scheduled to be delivered on May 20, 2025.
