The imposition of unexpectedly high and universal tariffs on imports of goods by the United States, and uncertainty surrounding whether and when these new tariff rates will be re-negotiated, has created significant disruption to multinationals’ product pricing and supply chains. This will have a resultant impact on multinationals’ profitability, at least in the near- to short-term until they are able to understand and take action to adapt to the new economic realities.
