Malaysia: Deferral of service tax expansion, sales tax review
Initially set to take effect on May 1, 2025
It is reported that the Ministry of Finance plans to defer the proposed expansion of the scope for service tax and the review of sales tax rates for specific goods, initially set to take effect on May 1, 2025.
The Director General of Customs indicated that the relevant amendment legislations are expected to be gazetted on June 1, 2025. However, the new implementation date has not been specified.
