IRS provides tax relief for taxpayers in all of Arkansas and Tennessee
Taxpayers have until November 3, 2025, to file various tax returns and make tax payments.
The IRS today announced tax relief for all individuals and businesses in Arkansas and Tennessee affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that began on April 2, 2025. As a result, these taxpayers now have until November 3, 2025, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.
Today’s IRS releases—IR-2025-49 (Arkansas) and IR-2025-47 (Tennessee)—explain that the relief applies to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), covering all 75 counties in Arkansas and all 95 counties in Tennessee.
Taxpayers in these areas are granted extensions for various tax-related deadlines that fall between April 2, 2025, and November 3, 2025. The November 3 deadline applies to individual income tax returns, individual retirement arrangement (IRA) contributions, quarterly estimated tax payments, quarterly payroll and excise tax returns, calendar-year corporation and fiduciary returns and payments, and calendar-year tax-exempt organization returns.
Penalties for failing to make payroll and excise tax deposits due between April 2 and April 17, 2025, will be waived if deposits are made by April 17, 2025.
The IRS will automatically apply filing and penalty relief to taxpayers with an IRS address in the disaster area. Those outside the area but affected can contact the IRS for assistance.
