China requests WTO dispute consultations regarding U.S. reciprocal tariffs
34% additional duty on imports from China
The World Trade Organization (WTO) today circulated China's request for dispute consultations with the United States concerning U.S. measures imposing a 10% additional duty on imports from all trading partners effective April 5, 2025, and a 34% additional duty on imports from China effective April 9, 2025. China argues that these measures are inconsistent with the United States' obligations under various provisions of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994, the Agreement on Customs Valuation, and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures.
