U.S. tariffs on Canada and Mexico take effect March 4; duty-free de minimis treatment allowed

President Trump on March 2, 2025, signed amendments to those executive orders to allow duty-free de minimum treatment for eligible articles:
- The amendment to Executive Order 14193 concerning Canada revises section 2(h) to allow duty-free de minimis treatment for eligible articles under 19 U.S.C. 1321, but provides the treatment will end upon notification from the Secretary of Commerce that adequate systems are in place to fully and expeditiously process and collect tariff revenue.
