Eight LB&I practice units covering various partnership, foreign tax credit, and compensation issues
The IRS Large Business and International (LB&I) division today released eight “practice units”—part of a series of IRS examiner “job aides” and training materials intended to describe for IRS agents leading practices about tax concepts in general and specific types of transactions:
- Sale of a Partnership Interest (referred to as a “transaction unit”) (dated January 28, 2025)
- Self-Employment Tax and Partners (“concept unit”) (dated January 28, 2025)
- French Foreign Tax Credits (FTCs) (“transaction unit”) (dated February 19, 2025)
- FTC General Principles (“concept unit”) (dated February 12, 2025)
- FTC Limitation and Computation (“process unit”) (dated February 19, 2025)
- Foreign Earned Income Exclusion Adjustment (“process unit”) (dated February 11, 2025)
- Sourcing of Salary and Compensation (“process unit”) (dated February 10, 2025)
- Determining Liability Allocations (“concept unit”) (dated January 28, 2025)
