World Trade Organization circulated requests from Canada and China for dispute consultations with the United States
The World Trade Organization (WTO) on March 5, 2025, circulated a request from Canada for dispute consultations with the United States concerning new U.S. tariff measures on Canadian goods. Canada contends that the additional U.S. ad valorem duties of 25% on non-energy goods and 10% on energy goods from Canada violate provisions of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994 and the WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement.
