Belize's tax administration on February 28, 2025, released a public notice to inform taxpayers that the country will be implementing a new electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) system as a result of changes to the Sales Tax Act.

The changes to the Sales Tax Act became effective on January 1, 2025, but the law allows the tax administration to determine the effective date for when the e-invoicing mandate will take effect. Accordingly, the tax authorities have advised taxpayers to begin preparing for a shift to e-invoicing. While the effective date of this mandate has not been announced, the tax administration has assured that the information will be released in the near future along with technical documentation.
