Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) today introduced legislation—the U.S.-Cuba Trade Act of 2025—to repeal sanctions and establish normal trade relations with Cuba.
According to a Senate Finance Committee release, Wyden introduced the bill following the Biden Administration's announcement that it was removing Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Additionally, Cuba agreed to free a number of political prisoners.
The legislation aims to repeal major statutes that codify sanctions against Cuba It also seeks to establish normal trade relations with Cuba.
