The U.S. Senate yesterday voted (68-29) to confirm Scott Bessent to be Treasury Secretary.

President Trump nominated Kenneth Kies to be Treasury Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) on January 22, 2025. Kies is a former Chief of Staff for the Joint Committee of Taxation and former Republican Chief Tax Counsel for the Committee on Ways and Means.

Trump also formally nominated Michael Faulkender to be Deputy Treasury Secretary and Billy Long to serve as the next IRS Commissioner on January 20, 2025.

The nominations of Kies, Faulkender, and Long all must be confirmed by the Senate. The Senate Finance Committee has yet to schedule hearings on those nominations.
