The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) updated its guidance on the public country-by-country (CbC) reporting regime, in particular regarding public CbC parent registration.

The ATO states that all public CbC reporting parents are encouraged to register with them as it will simplify:

  • Giving the public CbC report
  • Requesting an extension of time to provide the public CbC report
  • Requesting an exemption from reporting obligations

According to the ATO, the registration form and instructions are currently under development and will be made available in 2025.

Additionally, public CbC reporting parents may apply to the Commissioner of Taxation for an extension of time to provide the report, with further guidance on the extension of time requests to be made available in 2025.
