The U.S. Treasury Department and IRS today released final regulations (T.D. 10013) that would amend the regulations relating to the disclosure of specified return information to the Bureau of the Census.

The final regulations are intended to promote the efficient and appropriate transfer of return information to the Bureau for statistical purposes and permit the disclosure of additional return information pursuant to a request from the Secretary of Commerce.

The final regulations adopt proposed regulations issued in March 2024 with minor changes.

The final regulations apply to disclosures of return information made on or after November 26, 2024.
