EU: Expansion of centralised clearance for import (CCI) system
The European Commission announced that Italy has joined the Centralised Clearance for Import system.
The European Commission on November 11, 2024, announced that Italy has joined the Centralised Clearance for Import (CCI) system for the digitalization of the centralised clearance process at European level as defined in the Union Customs Code (UCC).
The CCI system—which enables the customs authorities of different Member States acting as one customs authority for the clearance of goods under CCI—entered its first phase of implementation in July 2024 and now includes Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Croatia, and Italy.
According to the EC release, other EU Member States may join gradually in the coming year.
