U.S. OFAC finalizes amendments to the Reporting, Procedures and Penalties Regulations
Summary of comments and changes from the interim final rule
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) today released a final rule to amend the Reporting, Procedures and Penalties Regulations.
The final rule, effective 30 days after its publication in the Federal Register (which is scheduled to be October 8, 2024), responds to public comments on the interim final rule published in May 2024.
Today’s final rule provides a summary of comments and changes from the interim final rule:
- Reports of unblocked or transferred blocked property
- Reports of rejected transactions
- Requests for a compliance release of property blocked due to mistaken identity or other similar errors
- OFAC Reporting System (ORS)
- Instruction to report certain transactions
- Recordkeeping requirements
